A new app called Hybrowse just launched and aims to make the art of searching some of your favorite sites a little more intuitive.

The service (available for Netflix and Etsy now) was built by Jake Lodwick and designed by Peter Vidani and has an ambitious (read crazy) goal of having 1,000 active APIs wrapped in to the Hybrowse framework by May 1st.

I hope they reach their goal of 1,000, but even if they don’t, they’ve certainly made it easier to navigate Netflix for new movies. And oh yeah, I made my first purchase on Etsy today in months because of Hybrowse.

Hoefler & Frere-Jones are launching their 29th font family this Thursday called Vitesse. It looks incredible.

According to this New York Times article, Vitesse will be one of three fonts released by H&FJ in 2010.
The article also mentions a “secret formula they can’t talk about yet” involving technology that delivers fonts to your computer and browser. It looks like this year is already shaping up to be one of great typography.

And now here we are. Right here in your own backyard, an American company creates a brilliant phone, and that company hands it to you, and gives you an exclusive deal to carry it — and all you guys can do is complain about how much people want to use it. You, Randall Stephenson, and your lazy stupid company — you are the problem. You are what’s wrong with this country.

We will not compromise who we are to be accepted by the crowd. We want substance in the place of popularity. We want to think our own thoughts. We want love, not lies. We want knowledge, understanding and peace. We will not lose, because we are not losers. We are lasers.

Lupe Fiasco, from the song Lasers off of his latest mixtape Enemy of the State. I highly recommend you give it a listen, it’s available for free download .

Designed in 1947 by E. Stewart Williams for Frank Sinatra and his first wife, Nancy Barbato, Twin Palms is a spectacular example of mid-century architecture in the heart of Palm Springs’ Movie Colony community.

Not only is this stunning home an architectural wonder, it’s also available to rent for the cool price of $1,950.00 per night. I’m saving up to go, who’s with me?

Oh, and don’t forget to take a close look at the pool. It’s shaped like a piano—such a fitting design for Ol’ Blue Eyes.

Tim Burton directed a 30 second video promoting his exhibit at MoMA. Wow.

The Burton exhibit will run from November 22, 2009 through April 26, 2010. I may or may not be in New York in December, but if I am, there’s no way you could keep me from seeing this. For more information, check out MoMA’s mini-site.

Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know.

Quote by Ernest Hemingway, especially poignant on a day like this. Originally read here.

Great entry for the autumn society’s final show of 2009, “Dia de los Muertos” by *strongstuff.

The concept and execution are great and I really love his artistic style. You can find more from *strongstuff on his deviantART page.

For some reason I’ve been drawn to bicycles lately. Maybe it’s a throwback to my childhood. Maybe it’s a timeless idea manufactured in a new and exciting way. Whatever it is, you can’t deny the craftsmanship of this Bertelli original.

Every part of this bicycle is assembled by hand, finished and fine-tuned by the builder, Francesco. This piece of art is not for sale, but there are others just as unique and beautiful available for purchase.
